About Fir Hollow Playschool
"Play is the highest form of research" -Einstein
Fir Hollow is a Reggio Emilia Inspired outdoor program focused on child-led, hands-on discovery learning that allows the child to use all their senses and languages to interact with the environment. With direct exposure to the natural world, children will be invited to engage in meaningful and collaborative outdoor activities that they can build upon throughout the changing seasons.

My Story
My journey in the childcare field began in 2003. During my studies in college, I felt drawn to the Reggio Philosophy and finding ways to bring children outdoors. I taught in non-profit preschools for 6 years before deciding to switch paths to the Environmental field. After getting my degree in Environmental Studies (Saddleback Community College) and completing 24 units in ECE, I became a stay-at-home-parent with the specific goal to homeschool and bring quality child care to the community. I have been a volunteer facilitator and director for outdoor programs for over 3 years. I am current in CPR and First Aid Certification, have passed an extensive background check, am certified in many other endeavors ( National Geographic Educator, Forest School, Permaculture, Diversity and Inclusion, Nonviolent Communication), and speak Spanish. I am working towards becoming certified in trauma-informed care and becoming a Master Naturalist.
